'Woldae' restoration at Gyeongbok Palace

This photo, provided by the Cultural Heritage Administration on April 25, 2023, shows the "woldae" in front of Gwanghwamun, the main gate of Gyeongbok Palace, in downtown Seoul, in 1923. The woldae excavation work has been under way for restoration since September 2022. A woldae is a stage built with stone in front of ancient gates that was used for royal rituals and ceremonies.
