Stock settlements for 2025 up nearly 25 pct on-year: data

SEOUL, Jan. 12 (Yonhap) -- Settlements for stocks traded in South Korea rose sharply in 2025 over last year's bull market, industry data showed Monday.

Stock settlements made through the Korea Securities Depository (KSD) totaled 601.4 trillion won (US$412.6 billion) last year, up 24.4 percent from the previous year, according to the data from the depository.

The daily average tally came to 2.5 trillion won, the KSD said.

By type, settlements of stocks traded on the local exchange rose 22.2 percent to 265.7 trillion won. Institutional settlements of stocks totaled 335.7 trillion won, up 26.2 percent.
