SEOUL, Sept. 21 (Yonhap) -- A former journalist-turned-political commentator has been appointed as a new presidential spokesperson, the presidential office said Monday.

Kim Sung-wan, formerly a journalist with Media Today, a news outlet specializing in the media industry, who later became a radio presenter and political commentator, began his duties as a presidential spokesperson earlier in the day, according to Cheong Wa Dae.

"As President Lee Jae Myung has said, I will strive to communicate more with the public with humility," Kim told reporters.

Kim's appointment adds to the current two presidential spokespeople -- Kang Yu-jung and Ahn Gwi-ryeong.
