SEOUL, June 30 (Yonhap) -- St. Louis Cardinals' starter Kim Kwang-hyun, being the hard-luck loser this season, is taking on his eleventh try for the second win of the season.

On July 1st 2:15 AM (KST), the South Korean lefty will start the home game against the Arizona Diamondbacks in the U.S. Major League Baseball(MLB) game at Busch Stadium in St. Louis, Missouri.

Kim started 12 times this year, with one win, five losses and an ERA of 3.98.

After harvesting his first win of the season against the Cincinnati Reds on April 24th, he has recorded five losses without another win during 10 appearances.

Kim often missed the chance to win the starting games, as he failed to fill the fifth inning six times, resulting in coach Mike Shildt chosing 'early replacement' this year on games where Kim took the mound.

Recently, Kim has announced that he will aim to take the mound with 'minimum loss'.

The Diamondbacks are the underdogs of the 2021 MLB season, with the lowest winning rates. The Diamondbacks have a winning rate of 0.275 (22 wins and 58 losses) as of the 29th (KST).

The team also lost 17 consecutive games and 24 consecutive away games this year.

As of the 29th (KST), the Cardinals lineup ranked 13th place among 15 National League teams with an OPS of 0.673, lower than the Diamondbacks lineup's OPS of 0.679, which is 11th place.

The Cardinals are in need of a home win over the Diamondbacks for a rebound in order to recover their fall to 4th place in the National League Central.
