SEOUL, Sept. 16 (Yonhap) -- Hyundai Motor Co. said Wednesday it will supply 480 hydrogen fuel cell buses to public transportation operator Sunjin Group by 2032 and expand charging infrastructure to support the fleet.
Hyundai Motor signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Sunjin, which operates about 1,700 buses in the Seoul metropolitan area and southwestern South Korea, and hydrogen charging infrastructure operator HyNet and other associations to expand hydrogen mobility and related infrastructure.
Under the pact, Hyundai Motor will supply the buses in phases through 2032, while existing compressed natural gas (CNG) stations in Gyeonggi Province will be converted into hydrogen refueling stations.
HyNet will build and operate large-scale hydrogen refueling stations to support the expanded fleet.
