Wintertime power demand hits record high amid cold snap

An electric signboard at the Seoul headquarters of Korea Electric Power Corp., South Korea's state-run power company, indicates that the country's maximum power consumption is expected to reach 91,000 megawatts (MW) on Dec. 20, 2022. According to the Korea Power Exchange, the country's maximum power demand hit a wintertime record high of 91,710 MW the previous day, as the country was struck by a cold snap. (Yonhap)
