GYEONGSAN, South Korea, July 23 (Yonhap) -- Eight people were injured following a fire in an apartment facilities office in the southeastern city of Gyeongsan, police and city officials said.

The fire began at 8:29 a.m. after a suspected explosion inside the office, where multiple people were gathered, according to the officials. Elderly people inside a senior center next to the office were also reported injured.

One of those injured was in serious condition.

A witness said a person appeared to enter the office with flammable material before setting it on fire.

Another witness recounted hearing the sounds of explosions and seeing multiple people with their bodies on fire running out of the building.

People had reportedly gathered at the office to discuss the apartment's management regulations.

Police plan to investigate the exact cause of the incident by questioning those at the scene.
