N. Korea discusses implementation of parliamentary decisions at Cabinet committee meeting

SEOUL, April 2 (Yonhap) -- North Korea has held an enlarged meeting of the ruling party committee of the Cabinet and discussed the implementation of decisions adopted at last month's first session of the newly formed parliament, state media reported Thursday.

Presided over by Premier Pak Thae-song, the meeting of the Workers' Party of Korea committee of the Cabinet held Wednesday discussed ways to carry out major tasks outlined by leader Kim Jong-un in his parliamentary speech, the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) reported.

The committee is an organ of the ruling party established within the Cabinet to oversee its handling of party policies and decisions.

Wednesday's committee meeting also reviewed and approved a resolution to expand inspections aimed at ensuring the thorough implementation of the new national five-year plan, the KCNA said.

In February, North Korea held the first congress of the WPK in five years to lay out development plans and policies for the next five years, followed by the first session of the newly elected 15th Supreme People's Assembly last month.
