N. Korea fails to launch alleged military spy satellite
This photo, provided by South Korea's Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS) on May 28, 2024, shows the explosion of a North Korean rocket allegedly carrying a military reconnaissance satellite in midair, which a South Korean patrol boat stationed in the country's northwest sea captured the previous night. The launch of reconnaissance satellite Malligyong-1-1 from the North's Sohae Satellite Launching Ground in Cholsan County of North Phyongan Province on May 27 failed "due to the air blast of the satellite carrier rocket during the first-stage flight," the North's official Korean Central News Agency reported in the early hours of the following day.
