SEOUL, June 23 (Yonhap) -- The film "Bogota," which was suspended during overseas filming last year after the spread of the novel coronavirus infection (Corona 19), resumed filming in Korea, announced distributor Megabox Plus M on Wednesday.

The film portrays people who start committing crimes and making dangerous deals to survive in  Bogota, the last land with hope to start a new life. While the cast began filming in Bogota last January, it ended shortly after the outbreak of the coronavirus in March.

Originally, all of the scenes were scheduled to be filmed in Colombia, however, the production team was able to fulfill only 40 percent of the original plan.

The production company plans to reorganize the entire production based on the pre-filmed amount of footage and proceed to shoot the rest of the scenes in Korea for the next three months.

Song Joong-ki will play Guk-hee, a 19-year-old boy who arrives in Bogotá, and shows an interesting life story with various twists and turns until he has gained commercial supremacy in Bogotá.

Actor Lee Hee-joon will play as an employee of a large company in Colombia, while actor Kwon Hae-hyo will play Sergeant Park, the head of the Korean merchant association.

"Bogota" is a new film directed by Kim Sung-je, who won the Busan Film Critics Award as Best New Director for his debut film "Minority Opinion" in 2015 and the Blue Dragon Film Awards for Screenplay.
