PM to meet Vietnam counterpart in Seoul next week

SEOUL, June 26 (Yonhap) -- Prime Minister Han Duck-soo will hold talks with his Vietnamese counterpart, Pham Minh Chinh, in Seoul next week, his office said Wednesday.

The Vietnamese prime minister will pay an official visit to South Korea from Sunday to Wednesday at Han's invitation, and the two sides will hold talks on Tuesday, Han's office said in a press release. Han will also host a welcome dinner for Chinh the same day.

Chinh will be the highest-level Vietnamese official to pay an official visit to South Korea since the two countries upgraded their ties to a comprehensive strategic partnership in 2022, on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the establishment of bilateral diplomatic relations.

"The visit is expected to serve as an opportunity to further deepen the mutually beneficial, practical and strategic cooperation between the two countries across all sectors," Han's office said.

Chinh will be accompanied on the visit by his wife, Le Thi Bich Tran.
