SEOUL, June 11 (Yonhap) -- "Wrath of
Man," a new action movie directed by Guy Ritchie, who previously attracted
10 million viewers in Korea with his Disney live-action film
"Aladdin," started out at the top of the box office.
The film topped the box office with 32,000 viewers on the first day of its
release and 23,000 on the following day, according to the Korea Box office
information system (KOBIS) on Friday.
"Wrath of Man" is a heavy action film that shows a revenge play of H
(played by Jason Statham), who lost his only son to a group of armed individuals
robbing a Armored truck and starts working as a security guard for the armored
truck company.
Released on June 10, the 3D animation "Earwig and the Witch," which
was produced by Studio Ghibli and the thriller "Flashback," starring actor
Dylan O'Brien who was also the leading role of "The Maze Runner"
series, ranked fifth and sixth respectively.
In addition, "Cruella," starring actresses Emma Stone and Emma
Thompson, topped the real-time ticket reservation list with 22.7 percent.
"Wrath of Man" was followed by 18.9 percent and the horror film
"The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It," which topped the box office
last week, with 13.7 percent.
"A Quiet Place: Part II" (10.2%) and "The Sixth Story of Girl's
High School Ghost Story: Alma mater" (8.1%), which are set to be released
next week, were already at the top of the ranking list.
