SEOUL, June 11 (Yonhap) -- After beating
"Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba the Movie: Mugen," the action movie "Fast & Furious 9" has become the box office hit of the year.
According to the Korea Box office information system (KOBIS), "Fast and
Furious 9," which was released on May 19, accumulated 2,104,000 viewers
until the previous day. "Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba the Movie: Mugen,"
which was released on January 27 and has also been a long-running box office
hit, with a total of 2,103,000 viewers.
"Fast & Furious 9" became the most successful foreign film in Korea
ever since the corona virus outbreak, along with this year's biggest box office
hit.
"Fast & Furious 9," which started with 400,000 viewers on the first
day of its release, surpassed 2 million viewers after 19 days, breaking the
record set by movie "Tenet" and "Soul," which was the second
hit this year.
In commemoration of the movie's success, the first film of the "Fast & Furious" series will be re-released in 4DX on the 16th.
