Seoul, May 5 (Yonhap) -- The Texas Rangers competing in Major League Baseball announced that Korean left-handed pitcher Yang Hyeon-jong will start playing against the Minnesota Twins at 8:40 a.m. on the 6th (KST) at Target Field in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

 

Without an unexpected change, it will leave a new history for the Texas club.

 

The Rangers said in a game note on the 5th that Yang will be the oldest player to make his debut as a starting pitcher in the history of the club.

 

Born on March 1, 1988, he will take the mound as a starting pitcher on the 65th day of 33 years.

 

The previous record was 32 years and 32 days for Austin Vivens Ducks on June 1, 2017.

 

Yang Hyeon-jong, who made two appearances as a relief pitcher, finally got a chance to start with two runs in 8 2/3 innings and a 2.08 ERA, will also set a milestone as Texas' first left-handed pitcher to start this season.
