SEOUL, July 1 (Yonhap) -- As the summer season approaches, a number of television series are dominating the clip market. also dominated the clip market.

The highest number of views per episode in June was SBS TV's "The Penthouse: War in Life," exceeding 23 million views in four episodes, according to an analysis done by Smart Media Rep (SMR), which distributes clips of major broadcasters' VODs (on-demand videos) to online platforms such as Naver and YouTube.

In second place, season two of tvN's medical drama, "Hospital Playlist" also the second season of tvN's Thursday drama "Hospital Playlist.

In June, new dramas targeted towards young adults such as JTBC's "Nevertheless" and tvN's "My Roommate Is a Gumiho" were released while the recently-ended dramas including tvN's "Mine" and KBS 2TV's "Youth of May" spread the public's attention.

Nevertheless, a total of four drama series have returned in the past month, starting with the final season of "The Penthouse: War in Life" and followed by the second season of TV Chosun's "Love ft. Marriage & Divorce," tvN's "Hospital Playlist" and the fourth season of "Voice."

Despite such fierce competition, "The Penthouse: War in Life" and "Hospital Playlist" overtook the rest of the dramas and recorded a high record of over 4 million views per episode, successfully starting off the new seasons.

Although it wasn't included in the top 10, "Love ft. Marriage & Divorce" recorded an average of over 1 million views per episode, and the fourth season of "Voice 4" obtained 900,000 views.

However, it is still too early to judge whether the new seasons of the drama series will surpass the previous seasons' popularity.

In particular, "The Penthouse: War in Life" decreased in views drastically as the drama hit 10 million in the first season and 12 million in season two. Additionally, the number of views are also falling slightly each week.

While many viewers were excited about the intense thrilling scenes and plot twists, some felt somewhat tired about the repetitive content and dragged out story line.
