Research on how silicates crystallize during planet formation

Seoul National University professor Lee Jeong-eun gives a presentation at the government complex in Sejong, central South Korea, on Jan. 19, 2026, about her team's research on how silicates crystallize during planet formation. In the research, supported by the science and ICT ministry and published in the journal Nature, the team provided observational proof of long-standing theories about the birth of planets and comets by using the James Webb Space Telescope.
