Finance minister to leave for Brazil to attend G20 meeting

SEOUL, July 23 (Yonhap) -- Finance Minister Choi Sang-mok will leave for Brazil on Tuesday to attend a Group of 20 (G20) meeting of finance chiefs to discuss global economic and financial issues, the finance ministry said.

Choi is scheduled to head to Rio de Janeiro on the day to attend the G20 Finance Ministers' meeting slated for July 22-26, according to the Ministry of Economy and Finance.

During the meeting, Choi plans to propose structural reform measures to spur growth momentum of the global economy and ways of financial innovation.

He will also attend the South Korea-Latin America trade forum on Thursday to be hosted by the ministry and the Inter-American Development Bank, which is designed to explore ways of enhancing bilateral cooperation on supply chains, renewable energy resources and other sectors of mutual interests.

On the sidelines of the meeting, Choi will hold separate talks with finance ministers of major partner nations, the chief of the World Bank and other officials, the ministry said.
