SEOUL, Sept. 12 (Yonhap) -- North Korea fired an unidentified projectile toward the East Sea on Saturday, South Korea's military said.

The Joint Chiefs of Staff said it detected the launch, without elaborating.

The latest launch came after the North fired a barrage of short-range ballistic missiles toward the East Sea on Aug. 20, despite overtures by U.S. President Donald Trump to reengage with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un.
