Unification minister to visit Germany, Belgium next week

SEOUL, Sept. 26 (Yonhap) -- Unification Minister Chung Dong-young will visit Germany and Belgium next week, including attending a ceremony marking Germany's reunification, his ministry said Friday.

During the trip from Sunday through next Saturday, Chung will attend the German Unity Day event on Oct. 3 as a South Korean government representative and discuss the country's North Korea and unification policies with German officials and call for their support, according to the ministry.

Chung will also attend the 2025 Global Korea Forum in Germany to discuss issues surrounding the Korean Peninsula with German and European Union officials.

The minister also plans to visit the Federal Agency for Civic Education in Germany to discuss the country's political education model, including the Beutelsbach Consensus.
