Hanwha to showcase AI-powered defense systems at Seoul ADEX 2025

SEOUL, Oct. 16 (Yonhap) -- Hanwha Group said Thursday it will showcase advanced artificial intelligence (AI)-based defense systems at next week's Seoul International Aerospace & Defense Exhibition (ADEX) 2025, highlighting how its platforms are evolving for future battlefields.

Hanwha Aerospace Co. will publicly debut the Themis-K unmanned ground vehicle (UGV), which combines Hanwha's remotely controlled weapon station with Milrem Robotics' Themis platform, at the exhibition slated for Oct. 20-24 at KINTEX in Goyang, just northwest of Seoul.

The upgraded K9A3 howitzer will also be featured. The new model can drive and position itself autonomously and has an extended firing range of more than 80 kilometers.

Also on display will be an advanced AESA radar with AI-based command systems.

In the naval field, Hanwha Ocean Co. will showcase the KSS-III submarine and introduce a concept for its next-generation surface ship. A separate smart battleship concept based on Hanwha System's integrated combat system will also be unveiled for the first time.

"At ADEX 2025, we will demonstrate how our proven platforms are evolving into truly AI integrated solutions for the future," said Kim Dong-kwan, vice chairman of Hanwha Group. "We reinforce our commitment to being a long-term, reliable partner for our customers around the world."
