N Korea-spy satellite
N. Korea launches what it claims to be spy satellite southward: JCS
SEOUL, Nov. 21 (Yonhap) -- North Korea launched what it claims to be a military spy satellite southward Tuesday, the South Korean military said, following two failed attempts earlier this year.
The launch came one day earlier than expected. The North had earlier informed Japan that it would launch a satellite between Wednesday and Dec. 1.
North Korea's previous efforts to put a spy satellite into orbit in May and August both failed due to engine problems and other reasons.
South Korea has warned North Korea not to proceed with another launch, which would violate U.N. Security Council resolutions that ban Pyongyang's use of ballistic missile technology.
