SEOUL, Mar. 1 (Yonhap) – S. Korean actress Lee Young-ae has donated 100 million won to Ukraine, which was invaded by Russia.

Dmytro Ponomarenko, the Ukrainian Ambassador to Korea, revealed the photo of a check of 100 million won and Lee’s letter, which were sent to the People of Ukraine, through Twitter on Mar. 1.

Lee said in the letter, "As a family of veterans who have experienced war, I sympathize with the horrors of the war more than anyone else,” adding, “I sincerely hope the war in Ukraine comes to an end and pray for everyone's peace.”

She also mentioned, “I pray for everyone’s well-being and safety,” adding, “To all the Ukrainian citizens who are calling for freedom and peace, I hope you do not lose your hope and courage.”

The ambassador Ponomarenko said, “We are very excited and touched by the letter and the great financial contribution of Lee,” adding, “The donations will be transferred to the needs of victims of Russian invasion.”

Lee’s father is the 6.25 Korean War veteran, and his father-in-law is known to have participated in the Vietnam War.
