SEOUL, June 24 (Yonhap) -- "We received an unexpected amount of interest with our first mini-album, and we see it as a happy responsibility. The love we received for our debut mini-album has been our driving force to prepare diligently." (Youngjae)
After their thrilling first meeting with fans through their debut song "First Meeting Doesn't Go as Planned," TWS has returned with a fresher and more vibrant look.
Their second mini-album, "Summer Beat!," tells the story of the joy and excitement of deepening relationships following an electrifying first encounter. The album includes six tracks, such as the title track "If I'm S, Be My N," and the rock-based "Hey! Hey!" which depicts running towards dreams with friends.
"This album feels like a new start with many challenges in new genres," said Jihoon. "The rock-based 'Hey! Hey!' and the boom-bap-inspired 'Double Take' were new experiences for us. Thanks to this, we were able to prepare the stage with a unified spirit."
The title track lyrically portrays the process of two different people gradually becoming one, like the poles of a magnet. It features funky rhythms and synthesizer sounds to depict their attraction to each other. "The lyrics contain small details that are fun to discover," said Shinyu. "For example, the line 'Are you 10 meters above?' calculates the approximate height of a school building, making the lyrics as captivating as the melody."
"Summer Beat!" surpassed 500,000 pre-orders even before its release, signaling greater success than their debut album "Sparkling Blue," which sold over 240,000 copies. The members expressed their determination to show more growth and improvement compared to their debut activities, fueled by the pre-release interest.
"We've packed the excitement and happiness of the six of us into this album, aiming to deliver a sportier and more dramatic freshness than our debut album," said Jihoon. "Preparing this album brought us closer together as members. We are one team running towards our dreams, and that's what TWS is all about," added Kyungmin.
TWS attributes their growth to the encouragement of senior artists in their agency, including SEVENTEEN. They also shared their ambitious goal of holding concerts worldwide within the next three years, filling each day with memories and excitement.
"The freshness of TWS comes from 'capturing unforgettable moments of our time together.' We will fill our activities with the excitement of summer days spent with friends," said Shinyu.
