“If You Wish Upon Me” is a drama about a male protagonist who gets sent to the hospice hospital by the prison to volunteer, where he work with the workers he meets there to grant patients dying wish. The motif of the drama comes from the foundation in Netherlands which grants dying wishes of cancer patients.
“When I was first introduced by the production company with the foundation in Netherland, I thought it was very appealing. Three years later 16 episode drama series came to an existence.” adding “Throughout the production I have visited hospice hospital in hope to create a story good enough to help out the world, went through multiple meetings, in order to put in as much detail as possible.” director Kim Young-wan described his efforts and how the drama came to be throughout the interview.

South Korean actor Ji Chang-wook who acts out the protagonist Yoon Gyeo-rye who gets sent to the hospice hospital described why he picked “If You Wish Upon Me” to participate in the production by stating “When I first saw the script, protagonist Yoon Gye-rye’s life seemed just like mine but at the same time like someone else’s.”
Actor Ji Chang-wook worked hard to portray protagonist Yoon Gyeo-rye, who has a past of serving time in juvenile detention center, orphanage and prison changing through time after he encounters people in the hospital.
“I was avaricious to portray the protagonist Yoon Gye-rye as realistic as possible.” adding “The way he opens up to people around him and how he becomes close to those he encounter at the hospital, was what I thought about the most, acting out the character was defiantly not easy.” said Ji Chang-wook during the interview.
Actress Choi Soo-young mentioned her love for Seo Yeon-joo a nurse she acted out in “If You Wish Upon Me” by stating “I really liked the role Seo Yeon-joo was a very strong and healthy character.”
Adding on “I have watched a lot of documentaries regarding hospice hospital, however there was not much things that a nurse could do in terms of medical procedure.” adding “Since hospice deals with, psychological comfort of the patient instead of life extension procedure, while acting I think I thought more of how to harmonize with the patients instead of how to hold the needle.” actress Sooyoung continued on with her statement during the interview.
“I wanted Seo Yeon-joo to look energetic when she runs through the hospital.” adding”therefore I have worked out really hard to get fit to a point where I had abs, however all of the clothes I wore during the production showed my arms.” Sooyoung laughed while giving her thoughts on the setting of Se Yeon-joo being addicted to working out.
Actress Won Ji-an who showed impressive acting skills through South Korean drama “D.P” and “Hope or Dope” acts out mysterious woman despite of her pretty outlook Ha Joon-kyung.
