SEOUL, Dec. 8 (Yonhap) -- K-pop girl group aespa's smash-hit "Next Level" ranked No. 45 on British music media NME's "The 50 best songs of 2021" list, according to SM Entertainment on Wednesday.

The all-female K-pop act is the only Korean girl group to be included on the list.

"Though K-pop’s newest rookies officially debuted with ‘Forever’ and ‘Black Mamba’, ‘Next Level’ was the moment where aespa truly arrived," NME said. " Mark these girls down as your tip for 2022 – they’re going to be BTS-levels of huge."

Meanwhile, aespa appeared on the U.S. Comedy Central channel's "The Daily Show with Trevor Noah" at 1 p.m. on Wednesday (KST) and met its global fans.

The girl group toured around downtown New York with American comedian Roy Wood Jr. on the show and talked about surpassing 100 million YouTube views for "Savage" as well as being selected as global ambassadors for luxury brand Givenchy.

"Their innovative blend of digital and real-world performances has changed the K-pop game," Roy Wood Jr. said.
