SEOUL, Feb. 9 (Yonhap) -- South Korean actress Park Eun-bin, who recently garnered worldwide attention for her role in “Extraordinary Attorney Woo,” is confirmed to be starring in the upcoming drama series “Diva of the Island (literal title),” production company Kakao Entertainment announced Thursday.

The brand-new romance-comedy drama will tell the story of Mok-ha, a girl who accidentally drifted out onto a deserted island while coming to Seoul for an audition, being rescued after 15 years. The story will feature her as she struggles to adapt to the world she returns to and win the title of a diva.

The upcoming drama series will see Park as Mok-ha, who never loses her smile and hope despite the harsh reality she faces. She will portray the character who takes a step towards her dream of becoming a singer while spending every day and night with joy in an unfamiliar world where she knows no one and nothing.

The 30-year-old actress said, “I will make sure to come back well-prepared for the role of Mok-ha.”

The upcoming drama “Island’s Diva” is the third piece on which director Oh Chung-hwan and screenwriter Park Hye-ryeon will be working together, following their two previous hit drama series “While You Were Sleeping” (2017) and “Start-Up” (2020).

Director Oh, who is known for previously delivering “Hotel Del Luna” (2019) and “Big Mouse” (2022), will be in charge of producing this drama based on the script written by Park, who is well-known for writing the script of the mega-hit drama “Pinocchio” (2014).

The platform on which this forthcoming drama will be aired is yet to be decided, and the drama will kick off production in the first half of 2023 as soon as all cast members are confirmed.
