SEOUL, Jan. 13 (Yonhap) – South Korean veteran actor Namkoong Min will be making a quick return to the small screen with the upcoming MBC’s period romance drama “Lovers (translated),” according to his agency, 935 Entertainment, Friday.

The actor, who made himself known by starring in many South Korean hit dramas including his latest work “One Dollar Lawyer,” will be starring in the drama with South Korean actress Ahn Eun-jin, depicting the heartwarming love story of a couple during the Qing invasion of Joseon.

Actor Namkoong will be playing the role of Lee Jang-hyun, who makes a rather mysterious and unexpected debut in society of Neunggun-ri. The actor will be skillfully acting out the character, who seems to be lighthearted but has his own secret story that he cannot dare to share, opening a new chapter in his life after encountering a woman.

Yoo Gil-chae, the woman whom Namkoong Min falls in love with in the drama, will be played by South Korean actress Ahn Eun-jin, who made herself known by appearing in tvN’s mega-hit drama series “Hospital Playlist.” She will be acting out an arrogant daughter born in a yangban family who believes that everything, including every man’s love, ought to be about her and hers. The actress will be portraying the character’s development as the once arrogant girl goes through the war and comes to genuinely admire a man.

The soon-to-be aired drama, directed by Director Kim Seong-young, is based on the script written by screenwriter Hwang Jin-young, who formerly wrote the script for several period dramas including “The King’s Daughter, Soo Baek-hyang” and “The Rebel.”
