SEOUL, September 18 (Yonhap) -- The title song "Shut Down" from girl group BLACKPINK’s second full-length album "BORN PINK" topped the "Daily Top Song Global Chart" of the world’s largest music streaming platform Spotify, their agency YG Entertainment announced on Sunday.
"Shut Down" recorded 6.6 million streams on September 16, the day the album was released. The United States showed the biggest proportion, with 1,037,386 streams.
Other than the United States, the song gained popularity in countries including the United Kingdom, Canada, Germany, Vietnam, Mexico, Thailand, Brazil, and many more.
YG Entertainment said, "It is the second time BLACKPINK topping the same chart, after their song "Pink Venom" which was released last month. They added, "BLACKPINK became the only team to record the first place twice in the current chart, including both boy groups and girl groups."
In addition to the title song, all of the side tracks in the album including "Typa Girl," "Hard to Love," and "Yeah Yeah Yeah," made it to the top 30 of the chart.
BLACKPINK will be releasing their dance performance video for "Shut Down" at 00:00 on September 19 and continue to make records.
