SEOUL, Jan. 4 (Yonhap) -- S. Korean actor Jung Woo-sung(48), the executive producer of “The Silent Sea,” the Netflix original series, has mentioned, “Producing is hard as expected” at an online interview on Jan. 4.

Jung mentioned that there was a great burden after “Squid Game” has gained global popularity, raising worldwide expectations for the Korean content, adding, “It is harsh. The standard should be eliminated as soon as possible,” based on the current situation where the criteria for evaluating the work’s success are on the basis of “Squid Game.”

“The Silent Sea,” which depicts the story of a special team heading for the abandoned research station in the moon for a future Earth suffering an extreme water shortage, has remained in Netflix Global TOP10 since its release.

Jung admitted the evaluation that viewers’ preference on “The Silent Sea” varied and said, “I take in the criticism and continue to reflect on what I have missed as a producer.”

Jung Woo-sung, who gave the second try as a producer following the movie “Don’t Forget Me,” said, “I was worried about the commercial potential this time,” adding, ”I repeatedly thought about the director’s responsibility, intention and path of directing.”

Referring to main actors Bae Doo-na and Gong Yoo, he mentioned, “It makes me proud just by looking at them.”

He said there were expectations towards his cameo appearance and said, “I thought the attention should not be dispersed, so I refused. Instead, I made a voice appearance in the movie.”

Jung Woo-sung is currently ahead of the release of “Guardian,” the movie that he directed.
