SEOUL, Feb. 23 (Yonhap) -- American progressive metal band Dream Theater will perform Korea alone at Seoul’s Blue Square Master Card Hall on Apr. 26, organizer Private Curve announced Thursday.

The legendary band, formed in 1985, made its debut in 1989 with the album “When Dream and Day Unite.” After James Labrie joined the band as the vocalist in 1991, the band’s second LP released in 1992 scored big. Since then, the quartet rose to fame and has been considered a success in the progressive metal scene, often considered to be the vanguards of the genre.

“Dream Theater shook the world with its original music created by incorporating elements of Rush, Speed Metal, and Progressive Rock,” the organizer said, adding that the band has been at the forefront of the progressive metal industry since the 1990s.

This is not the first time for the band to visit Korea as they have made their visit several times since their very first in 2000. This will mark the band’s 9th concert in Korea in six years since 2017.
