SEOUL, Mar. 9 (Yonhap) -- Ha-eun in the movie "Soulmate," played by actress Jeon So-nee, resembles a calm lake.
At first glance, she seems calm, but it is difficult to gauge its depth. In addition, Ha-eun, who has never left her hometown of Jeju or thought of wanting to escape, reminds us of a lake that is always there.
Jeon So-nee, who we met at a cafe in Samcheong-dong, Jongno-gu on Thursday, said, "In front of Ha-eun's line, there were many text of as she sees.’ She explained her role as "a person who really picks and spits out words."
However, just as a small stone thrown into a lake causes a big wave throughout the surface, Ha-eun's daily life also undergoes a big change in small things.
Jeon So-nee recalled, "It was good that Ha-eun was a very shaky person."
"I thought that having a lot of worries and hesitations was a part that showed how passionate this person was in life. When it comes to expressing, Miso (Kim Dami) is a hot person, but Ha-eun has a heart that is as hot as Miso’s."
“Soulmate,” which is set to be released on the 15th, is the story of two friends, Miso and Ha-eun. The two, who have always been together since childhood, repeatedly grow apart and get closer over time.
"It's like a relationship that cannot be defined by any word," Jeon said.
"I heard that the roles of the actors also changed in the original work, ‘Soulmate.' There was a process like that in our movie, too. I came to think that the two characters are inevitable roles. I think it's a relationship that's completed when actors are suit to both roles and that does not seem to be strange at all if they switch the role."
She then confessed that she felt like a real soulmate with Kim Dami, who played the opposite role while filming the movie.
"What's really cool was that while filming 'Soulmate', I felt that we are connecting a lot." I think there was something between us that naturally resembled the relationship in the movie."
Regarding Kim Da-mi, she said, "For me, she is my best partner and a precious and reliable friend," adding, "I would be so happy if I could act with her at any time."
"I think she accepted more of me even though she was younger than me. Dami is a friend who has a stable aspect, and I can feel that no matter what I say, she opens her heart and listens attentively. I think I felt like I was doing something unexpected every time I acted while looking at her face."
"I think people can relate to themselves in their teens, 20s, 30s, regardless of gender," Jeon said of the film. "I've also been waiting as an audience for a long time."
"I've always wanted to see a movie that allows me to look into the character's mind. I like films that change over time with the characters who throw their whole heart to think about it. It shows certain level of daily life, so you can look back on the past time on your way home after watching a movie. I hope Miso, Ha-eun, and Jin-woo (Byun Woo-seok) can stay in the audience's mind for a few days and make them think about this and that."
Jeon So-nee, who debuted in 2014 with the short film "Picture," has expanded her acting spectrum by appearing in the films "Write or Dance (2017), "After My Death" (2018), "Jo Pil-ho: the dawning rage" (2019), and the dramas "Encounter" (2018) and "When My Love Blooms.” (2020).
Since last month, she has been meeting with audience as Min Jae-yi, a genius girl who became a suspect in a murder case overnight through the tvN drama "Our Blooming Youth." Recently, director Yeon Sang-ho's new Netflix series 'Parasite: The Gray' has also been filmed.
"It's my first time trying a genre like 'Parasite,' so I wonder how it will come out," she said. "Every time I start filming, what I value and what I enjoy changes, and that seems to give life to me."
