SEOUL, July 25 (Yonhap) -- Boeun county, North Chungcheong province, announced on Monday that it will be holding the "Songnisan Sinhwa Travel Festival," at the Songnisan Lawn Plaza and the Beopjusa Temple from July 29 till July 31.

It has been three years since the festival was paused due to COVID-19.

This festival, which is the expanded version of the "Songni Festival," an autumn festival of Songnisan, was first held in May 2019.

This year's festival starts with the Sanshinje (annual traditional ceremony to worship and celebrate the mountain spirits) at Cheonwangbong on the first day, and reenacts the Palsangjeon pagoda at Beopjusa temple. A folk art contest will also be held.

On the second day, followed by Korea's largest wild vegetable bibimbap performance event, Songnisan Sanshinje, and Shinhwa Madang play "Songi Nori" will be held.

On the last day, performances by Namsadang troupe (Korean itinerant troupe which consists of male performers who present various performing arts), the play "Along with the Gods," and a music concert, "Shinhwa" will finish the show.

During the festival period, a busking zone will be installed on the Songnisan Ori Forest Road, and Shinhwa Magic Show, balloon show, famous fairy tale musical, 7080 live show, K-pop dance performance, and many more, will be performed.

"We hope that one will experience the tradition that has been passed down for hundreds of years in Songnisan and create pleasant memories," said an official from Shinhwa Travel Festival Promotion Committee.
