SEOUL, June 16 (Yonhap) – “People say I’m good and cool. They ask me how I practiced acting and memorized the lines. I didn't practice separately. I just read the script and memorize it. I was born with the skill because I didn't look at it."
Jung Eun-hye, a caricature author who met at a cafe in Jongno-gu, Seoul, on June 16, often knitted while having a conversation. She was knitting a purple scarf for her brother. "Your Face," which will be released on June 23, is a documentary that depicts the process of the actress becoming a caricature author, who had nothing to do but knit.
"I draw from head to toe." Eun-hye only focuses on the subject when she draws. She doesn’t even try to reconstruct the object in her head. First, she takes a picture of a person with a cell phone, and captures her eyes looking at the picture. Jang Cha-sil, the mother of a cartoonist, said, "All writers draw within limited imagination. Eun-hye doesn't try to draw it accurately but rather follows her intuition. She completes the picture that we cannot reach.”
Eun-hye started drawing about seven years ago. She happened to grab a pen while cleaning at an art academy run by her mother. The actress drew a picture after looking at the perfume commercial model in the magazine. The job method based on photography began at that time. During the completion of more than 4,000 pieces, a unique style of painting was formed to express light and shade with lines.
Thanks to the drama "Our Blues,” Eun-hye, who is developmentally disordered, she was able to greet her neighbors and make people recognize her on the street while the restaurant owner pays for her meal. Eun-hye played Young-hee, who was abandoned by her twin sister Young-ok (played by Han Ji-min). Young-hee, who is hurt by others but draws caricatures of people around her, overlaps with Eun-hye in reality.
The reason why Young-ok treats her sister harshly is because she doesn't want to hurt her more. However, Han Ji-min took care of Eun-hye like her manager at the filming site.
"Your Face" was completed in 2020, but its release has been delayed by two years. This is because she was cast in the drama “Our Blues” while preparing for the release. The father Seo Dong-il, who directed "Your Face," said, "Because of the setting of the drama, Eun-hye should not be exposed. I had no choice but to release a documentary after the drama was aired.”
