SEOUL, April 14 (Yonhap) -- Jeju's 26th Hallasan Wild Bracken Festival, which heralds the spring of Jeju, will be held online and offline for two days from the 23rd till the 24th.
Seogwipo city announced on the 14th that this festival, which is hosted by Namwon-eup and supervised by the Namwon-eup Festival Committee, will be operated online like last year due to COVID-19.
The Namwon-eup Festival Committee recorded videos under the theme of the rainy bracken season that children participated like "Rainy Bracken Season Stop-motion Video" and the "Namwon-eup Bracken Season Promotional Video" to post on the Seogwipo city's official YouTube account on the opening day along with the performances by the local clubs.
On the second day, healing performances prepared by various musicians along many different spots in the beautiful coast of Namwon-eup, Jeju Olle Trail (4 spots including Namwon Keuneong Promenade) will be aired live on the same channel.
On the first day of the festival, at the entrance of the festival site (west of the National Typhoon Center), officials and visitors will be allowed to enter after checking for respiratory symptoms.
On the second day, the number of audiences will be restricted to 49 people for each performance venues at the coastal Jeju Olle Trail in Namwon-eup while also checking the quarantine violation rules.
"Bracken, a representative greenery that heralds Jeju's spring are sprouting all over Jeju's fields" Kim Seong-woo, chairman of the Namwon-eup Festival said.
Seogwipo City is also planning to open the festival site for a week after the festival is over so that tourists will be able to collect the brackens.
