Seoul September 13 (Yonhap) -- “Teachers told me to watch carefully and keep in mind of how my friends are acting out their roles while watching the practice clips, however, I was so drawn into the video all I thought about throughout the video was how great they were. I am very proud of you and I respect all three of you guys.” stated actress Jin Yeon-woo throughout the interview.

Starting on October 10, until February 26 of 2023, “Matilda The Musical” featuring four of the lead actresses and actors within the age of 9 to 11 will take place in D-Cube Arts Center in Guro district in Seoul.

After 7 long moths of auditioning, lead actress Lim Ha-yun, (age 9), Jin Yeon-woo (age 11), Choi Eun-yeong(age 9) who will be playing the role of Matilda complimented one another throughout the online press conference held on Tuesday.

“Matilda the Musical” originates from the child novel “Matilda” written by the renowned British writer Roald Dahl. The novel depicts a story of a gifted child Matilda who goes on a search to find her own ego despite of hardships she face due to her parents who force her to watch the TV knowing she loves to read books and her principle Trunchbull who despises children.

Royal Shakespeare Company known for their work with “Les Miserables” showcased “Matilda the Musical” in West End in United Kingdom in 2011. Later on the musical premiered in Broadway in 2013 and was awarded with “Tony Award for Best Musical,” in total of four different categories.

In 2018 for the first time in non English speaking country South Korea premiered “Matilda the Musical” and received Yegreen Musical Award and continuing on in 2019, actor Choi Jae-rim was awarded with Lead Actors award and Ensemble award from The Korean Musical Awards

“Matilda the Musical” which will kick off on October 10 will feature four new actresses will act out the main character Matilda.

Director Nik Ashton of “Matilda the Musical” shared his insight of how he picked out the actresses “The most important thing within the actresses who act out the role of Matilda is their toughness and resilience.” adding “Although the singing and dancing are both very important, I carefully picked out those who can truly deliver the story with their strong and tough mindset.”

“When I first received the script I was worried about whether I could successfully act out the role. However throughout continuous practice I got more confident in my role and acting.” adding “Although there were numerous hard words, I went back and thought of the meaning of the words and asked others for help which eventually helped me with the memorization of the lines.” actress Lim Ha-yun showcased her confidence in her role throughout the press conference.

Actor Suh Man-seok who participated as a swing actor for the premier act of “Matilda the Musical” in 2018 will take the stage as Wormwood, the father of protagonist Matilda.

“Throughout the previous showing I participated throughout the stage as an ensemble, Wormwood and pretty much every other characters” adding “I really enjoyed working as a cast of ‘Matilda the Musical’ therefore I always wanted to continue on with the production, when I was casted as Wormwood I cried a lot in tears of joy.” addressed actor Suh Man-seok throughout the press conference.

“All four of the actresses who will take the stage as Matilda has gift of attracting audience’s attention by putting the right amount of emphasis at the right timing.” actor Choi Jae-rim who will be acting out the antagonist principal Trunchbull continued on complimenting actresses throughout the press conference

“Every single actor and actresses participating in the production of ‘Matilda the Musical’ worked very hard at their respective place which eventually lead up to a point where it truly made the musical to become great featuring amazing ensemble between the casts.” actress Bang Jin-Hee who will take the stage as a character Miss.
