SEOUL, August 4 (Yonhap) -- Conflicts between S.Korean Over-The-Top (OTT) Coupang Play and production crews continue to deepen regarding the Coupang Play series “Anna.”
Six production members of drama “Anna” wrote a statement on Thursday supporting the director Lee Joo-young, who publicly criticized Coupang Play for editing the drama without consent.
Lee Eu-tae, Jeong Hee-seong, Lee Jae-wook, Park beom-joon, Kim Jeong-hoon, and Park Jo-gang said, “Result earned by the sweat of our brows was edited by Coupang Play without consent,” adding “Please take down our names from the credit.”
They rebutted, “Using our names on the work (that was edited without no consent) is the biggest disrespect to the production crews.”
Editing director of “Anna,” Kim Jeong-hoon, also wrote on Facebook, “‘Anna,’ released on June 24 was not the ‘Anna’ director Lee and I spent nights editing,” on Wednesday, a day after director Lee revealed her statement.
Coupang Play has been arguing, “Although we sent specific request for rectification, the director rejected such modification. We edited the work based on the rights specified in the contract to meet the original production intention.”
