SEOUL March 10 (Yonhap) -- Luxury designer brand group LVMH’s first African American designer Virgil Abloh’s collaborative piece done on vehicle brand Mercedes’ luxury sedan production line Maybach’s show car will be exhibited in South Korea for the first time.
Mredes Benz Korea addressed on Friday that the last work done by world famous designer Virgil Abloh will be exhibited at the DDP in order to celebrate the kick off of the Seoul Fashion week starting on March 15.
World Famous designer Virgil Abloh passed away in November of 2021 at the age of 41 years old due to cancer.
The project Maybach is a coup version of electronic off road Maybach worked on collaboratively by Virgil Abloh and chief deisner of Mercedes Benz Gordon Wagener.
Right before exhibiting the car, Virgil Abloh passed away, however following the family members suggestion to showcase the car, Mercedes Benz decided to showcase the vehicle in December of 2021 at the Rubell Museum in Miami for the first time ever.
Mercedes Benz Korea will also be showcasing a video clip about the designing process of project Maybach alongside the vehicle from March 15 through 19 at the DDP, located in Seoul.
The CEO of Mercedes Benz Korea, Thomas Klein, addressed “Project Maybach showcases the future of Electronic vehicles,” adding “We expect the upcoming exhibition will bring inspiration and discussions regarding fashion and innovation to domestic fashion leaders and people of South Korea."
