SEOUL, April 20 (Yonhap) -- Singer PSY and Hwa Sa will hold their first collaboration with the upcoming song “Now” (translated title).
PSY revealed a teaser video for the seventh track “Now (feat. Hwa Sa)" of the ninth full-length album “PSY 9th,” on his social media today at noon.
In the video, Hwa Sa said, “The song is just the definition of raw, so singing it just made me feel at home,” adding, “Like what PSY mention, this song is, I feel all-encompassing.”
PSY explained, “Anyone in their vocal range can sing this song freely, just sing their heart out.”
The end of the teaser video showed PSY and Hwa Sa looking excited in a recording studio.
“Now (Feat. Hwa Sa)” is a remake of the 1987 Seoul Family’s song of the same name, which is also a Korean remake of the duet song “When The Rain Begins To Fall,” by Jermaine Jackson and Pia Zadora, in 1984.
PSY explained the story behind the song, “As Hwa Sa was born in 1995, it is unlikely that she would be familiar with the song,” adding, “There was no better fit than Hwa Sa for this. I thought from the start, if I couldn’t get Hwa Sa on this track, I wasn’t going to release it.”
“I thought he sent over a hip-hop track or something along those lines. When I first heard it, I wondered ‘Can I really pull this off?’ I was quite worried,” said Hwa Sa. However, the artist added, “This song was meant for me.”
PSY’s ninth full-length album “PSY 9th,” which will be revealed for the first time in 5 years, will drop on April 29 at 6 p.m. through various music streaming sites.
