Hwagang Daseulgi Festival to begin tomorrow

SEOUL, August 3 (Yonhap) -- The Hwagang Daseulgi Festival, a representative summer event in Cheorwon county, Gangwon province, will be held from August 4 till August 7 in the Hwagang Swiri Park in Gimhwa with the theme of "The Summer Story of Cheorwon Begins Again."

The county had paused the festival since 2019 due to COVID-19, but resumed it after three years as the social distancing measures has been lifted.

The water quality of Hwagang river, where the festival is being held, is clean and shallow, making it suitable for family activities.

Various water play facilities including a large swimming pool, children's pool, water slide, as well as performances, exhibitions, and experience events will be prepared.

The highlight of the festival, the golden marsh snail catching event, will be held five times a day.

In addition, there will be a performance stage famous singers such as Park Myung-soo, Song Min-kyung, Jang Min-ho, Dynamic Duo, and Ailee, along with famous dance teams including JINJO CREW, One Way Crew, and many more to add in the heat of the summer night.

"As much as this is the first festival being held in three years, we have prepared various events from water play programs to experiences, exhibitions and performances to satisfy the expectations of tourists. So, I really hope you'll make pleasant memories at the festival," governor of county, Lee Hyeon-jong said.
