SEOUL, August 30 (Yonhap) -- Chinese SF movie "Moon Man," which is based on the Korean webtoon "Moon You," has earned over 370 million dollars in only a month.

According to a Chinese movie online booking website "Maoyan" on August 29, the movie "Moon Man," released on July 29, has earned over 370 million dollars as of 2 p.m. (local time) on August 29.

The movie ranked second among all the movies released in China this year, following the movie "The Battle at Lake Changjin II,"the sequel of the movie "The Battle at Lake Changjin."

Cho Seok's original webtoon "Moon Yoo" depicted the hard struggle of a researcher left alone on the moon, and the film added the main character's remembrance for his senior, and him sacrificing himself to save humanity. The translated version of the webtoon was first released under the same title as the movie in November last year, and it was followed by the movie.

The movie, directed by Zhang Ciyu, and the main character played by Shen Ten, a top actor in China, highlights China's "space excavation," which proves the development of space research and exploration, and the movie shows "patriotism," which has been trending in the Chinese film industry, by setting up a Chinese protagonist to save humanity.

In the ending credits of the movie, it reveals that the movie was adapted from the webtoon of Cho Seok, and also there is an explanation on China's biggest portal site, Baidu, that the movie was adapted from Cho Seok's webtoon.

However, in the marketing process of the movie, the producer team does not highlight the fact that the movie originated from a Korean comic writer's webtoon.

Therefore, unless the audience has watched the original webtoon, it is almost impossible for the audience to know that the movie originated from a webtoon written by a Korean comic writer. It has been 30 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Republic of Korea and the People's Republic of China. Both countries are calling for active interchange between their countries, but this condition seems to be related to the fact that the two countries have yet to overcome negative sentiment.

In the middle of this, approval for the broadcast and release of Korean dramas and movies, which have been active for some time this year, did not have any additional information for about three additional months since the drama "Bad and Crazy" at the end of May.
