SEOUL, Dec. 9 (Yonhap) -- TV Chosun will release their new Saturdays-Sundays series “Uncle” at 9 p.m. on the 11th, its producers said during an online conference Thursday.
The series is remake of the U.K BBC sitcom with the same title. It is a story of a middle-aged musician suddenly having to take care of his little nephew due to his sister’s divorce.
“While the original story is focused on B-class comedy, the Korean version includes Korean-style senses and aims for a wider range of viewers,” explained director Ji Young-soo.
Actor Oh Jung-se who played the main character ‘uncle’ Wang Joon-Hyeok introduced the role saying, “He is childish but warm-hearted. He is somewhat clumsy but attractive in his own way.”
Actress Jeon Hye-jin (45) played working-mom Wang Joon-Hee who decided to divorce after 12 years of marriage with her violent husband.
“Joon-Hee is a woman with no choice, but I think she may be stronger than anyone as a mother and as an older sister,” said the actress.
Child actor Lee Kyung-hoon (11) was cast for Joon-Hee’s only son and Joon-Hyeok’s nephew Min Ji-Hu. Lee appeared in films “Beyond That Mountain,” “Kids Are Fine” and drama “Memorist.”
Lee thanked the actor and actress for treating him like they were his real uncle and mother.
The series’ cast also includes Park Sung-young, Lee Sang-woo, Lee Si-won and Hwang Woo Seul Hye.
