SEOUL, April 23 (Yonhap) -- The changing of the guard ceremony of the Ungjinseong Fortress, a permanent cultural tourism program in Gongju, South Chungcheong Province is resuming from the 23rd.
According to Gongju city on the 23rd, the changing of the guards ceremony at the Unjinseong Fortress is a program that reenacts the guards guarding the Unjinseong Fortress, a World Heritage Site. It will be held every Saturday and Sunday until October.
From the second week of June till the end of August, it will be temporarily suspended in consideration of the summer heat.
Starting from this year, the program has been reduced to 6 times a day to 2 times (11 a.m. and 4 p.m. a day) to improve the quality of the program.
All the people participating in the program will be selected among professional actors to present a dynamic and realistic performance.
The guards will also participate in the ceremony for rotating the statue of King Muryeong of Baekje in front of Gongsanseong Fortress at 2 p.m. every weekend.
"In preparation of the Daebaekjejeon in 2023, this year, we will prepare more qualitative and complete historical and cultural contents to provide richer attractions for the tourists," said the mayor of Gongju, Kim Jeong Seob.
