Most played audio book of 2022 of 'Wellaaa' is 'Pachinko' by author Lee Min-jin

SEOUL December 12 (Yonhap) -- South Korean novel “Pachinko” by writer Lee Min-jin topped the most often heard audio book based on the analysis published by the South Korean audio book subscription service “Wellaaa.”

Based on the “2022 Best Audio book ranking” published on Monday, “Pachinko” successfully topped the audio book chart with the title of “Most played Audio book.” Also “Dollargut Dream Department Store” and “Retrograde Stepper” (literal translation) took second and third on the list.

Most played web novel was topped by Chungbing’s “The Butterfly Dream” (literal translation) followed by Hirachell’s “The Runway” and writer Woo Ji-hye’s “Unexpected Birth” (literal translation) was placed on top of the list.

“Miracles of the Namiya General Store” by Higashino Keigo, “Pachinko,” “Little Prince” by Saint Exupery was placed on top of the list of most played audio book.

Under the most played audio book of all time “Legend of Chu and Han” by Lee Mun-yol topped the chart, followed by Natsume Soseki, “Botchan” followed by Kim si-ahn’s “Reborn.”

Wellaaa, addressed that the audio book release of “Pachinko,” “Miracle of the Namiya General Store,” and number of novels by widely known authors had led the increase in audio book content consumption.

The average play time per person in 2021 was 11 hours, however it has shown 1.6 times the increase in 2022, 18 hours of play time, and overall time played increased 1.5 percent. Accumulated download rate has showcased increase of total 3.25 million downloads from 2.7 million which is 1.2 times the increase.
