SEOUL, Sept. 2 (Yonhap) -- Singer U-Know Yunho, who was caught violating social distancing rules at an entertainment bar, was able to avoid punishment but is expected to pay a fine.
According to the legal community on Thursday, the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office requested the Gangnam District Office to impose fines on 12 people, including U-Know Yunho, the owner of the entertainment bar, employees and customers.
On Feb. 25, U-Know Yun Ho stayed at an unauthorized entertainment bar past the nighttime curfew designed to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
In February, the Mayor of Seoul limited the closing hour of all restaurants and coffee shops to 10 p.m. The prosecution did not impose a separate criminal punishment on U-Know Yunho, as violating the operation hours at the time were subject to fines only.
However, the owner of the unauthorized entertainment bar was indicted without detention on charges of violating the Food Sanitation Act in addition to paying a fine. A total of five people, including employees and entertainment guests, were under summary indictment in addition to being fined.
