Sejong Art Center opens on Mar. 30… KSO and Lim Dong-hyek to perform opening ceremony

SEOUL, March 5 (Yonhap) -- Sejong City announced that 36 performances will be held 54 times in the Sejong Art Center, which will open at the end of this month. 


A collaboration performance between the Korean Symphony Orchestra (Director Hong Seok-won) and pianist Lim Dong-hyek will be held to commemorate the opening day, on Mar. 30 at 6 p.m.

The tickets are free of charge, and reservations can be made through Interpark ticket from Mar. 11.

This year's planned performance will begin with the KBS Symphony Orchestra's special creative performance "Blue" (translated) on April 15.

In the classic genre, the world's top orchestra New York Philharmonic Orchestra's performance in Korea will be held on July 6. In the musical genre, “Jekyll and Hyde” musical will be held on May 27~29, “Gwangju” (translated) on September 16~17, and “Sejong 1446” (translated) will be presented on October 28~29.

Music plays include “King Jeong-jo and Hamlet” (April 22~23) and “2022 ASSITEJ International Summer Festival in Sejong (July 29~31), which is a performing arts festival for children. National Opera’s “La Traviata” (June 24~25) and National Chorus’s “My Country” (translated) (July 14) will also be presented on stage.

Mayor Lee Chun-hee said, “Sejong Art Center will focus on establishing itself as the face and symbol of Sejong, by planning and attracting top domestic and international performances and regularizing performances by national and public art organizations in the mid to long term.”

Sejong Art Center is a specialized performance hall with 1,071 seats and the best stage, sound, and lighting facilities in Korea on the first basement floor and five floors above ground (16,186㎡), with 133.6 billion won invested from January 2019.
