SEOUL, May 7 (Yonhap)-- The family of the late actress Kim Sae-ron has filed a countersuit against actor Kim Soo-hyun, accusing him of violating the Child Welfare Act and making false accusations.
Attorney Bu Ji-seok, representing Kim's family, held a press conference Wednesday at a coworking space in Gangnam, Seoul, stating that a formal complaint had been submitted to the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency earlier that morning.
During the briefing, the family released a voice-recorded conversation from Kim’s lifetime, reenacted with voice actors. In the clip, the late actress reportedly said she had dated Kim from middle school until college.
Controversy first arose in March when a YouTube channel claimed Kim had dated Kim Sae-ron for six years beginning when she was 15 years old.
In response, Kim Soo-hyun acknowledged the past relationship in a press conference last month but denied that it occurred during her time as a minor. He also filed a defamation complaint against the family and the operators of the YouTube channel for spreading false information.
