SEOUL, July 22 (Yonhap) -- P.O, a member of K-pop group Block B who plays Bong Geun-dae in the Netflix original series "Teach You a Lesson," was recently involved in a traffic accident on South Korea's Jeju Island, police said Wednesday.
According to the Jeju West Police Station, P.O, whose real name is Pyo Ji-hoon, was struck by a vehicle while crossing a road in Geumneung-ri, Hallim-eup, Jeju City, at around 9:56 p.m. on Sunday.
He suffered abrasions to his elbow and knee, as well as body pain, and was taken to a hospital for treatment. His injuries are not considered serious.
Police said the driver was neither under the influence of alcohol nor in violation of traffic signals at the time of the accident, adding that they are investigating the exact cause.
As a result of the accident, P.O will not participate in the recording of tvN's variety show "Amazing Saturday," scheduled for Thursday. He is expected to proceed with filming for the SBS drama "Good Partner 2" next week as planned.
Artist Company, his agency, said P.O had traveled to Jeju with friends for a vacation when the accident occurred and received treatment at a hospital emergency room.
P.O recently appeared as Bong Geun-dae, a gifted official at the Teacher Rights Bureau, in Netflix's "Teach You a Lesson," a series centered on the collapse of South Korea's public education system.
