SEOUL February 24 (Yonhap) -- “I wanted to pick an instrument which is most comfortable for me to play and compose, since it’s my first album from the music label DECCA, and in order to dive deep into the stories I want to convey to the audience, I thought it was best for me to do it by myself.” adding “Piano is like my mother tongue,” addressed composer Jung Jae-il throughout the media showcase of his first album from the label DECCA “Listen” which was held on February 24.
“Instead of speaking or addressing something, I feel more comfortable playing piano,” adding “Although my first album from Decca ended up looking like the way it does right now, I would love to do various experiments in the near future.”
Jung Jae-il who started off his musical path as a bassist of South Korean band Gigs when he was only 17, continued on with his career as musician as composers and producers of various artists such as IU, Park Hyo-shin and more. Moreover in 2019 composer Jung Jae-il released OST of drama “Chernobyl,” movie “No Time to Die” which is part of the 007 series released in 2021, and more.

Jung Jae-il stated, “First album is very simple and generic, however I decided to name it ‘Listen.’”
Moreover, composer addressed “I wanted to listen to my inner voice, but at the same time I wanted to hear the words of those around me and the earth,” adding “Since we weren’t really careful of what earth had to say, we had to suffer from Covid 19 and the war.”
“We are well aware of how our way of living right now is wrong,” adding “Unfortunate goodbyes followed by wide spread of pandemic, and start of the war has led me to believe that we lack the skill to listen to what the world has to say,” composer Jung Jae-il carefully addressed throughout the media showcase.
Throughout the media showcase composer Jung Jae-il addressed his answer to the question posed by the conductor of Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra, Jaap Van Zweden. Composer Jung showed positive intentions regarding collaborating on a concert someday in the future.
“Since I did not learn music professionally, I am afraid that I might not be able to meet the standards of those who play the music professionally as part of the member of Seoul philharmonic Orchestra, however if conductor Jaap Van Zweden asks me the question, then I will more than glad to accept the offer and work with him in the future.” addressed composer Jung Jae-il throughout his media showcase.
