Singer Chungha says ＂I wanted the songs to contain the story of what was inside＂

SEOUL, July 11 (Yonhap) -- "As much as my fans waited for a long time, I wanted the songs to contain the story of what was inside."

Singer Chungha presented her honest self with this album on Monday at the showcase commemorating the release of her second full-length album, "Bare&Rare Pt. 1" after "Querencia," her first full-length album released on February 2021.

Chungha expressed her feelings about her comeback with the expression, "I feel very naked like I have taken off my bulletproof vest." It means that she is showing her true self.

"Bear & Rare Part.1" contains 8 songs including the title song "Sparkling," "XXXX," "Good Night My Princess," and "Crazy Like you." Chungha participated in the lyrics and production of all the album track songs.

"(After the release of the first regular album) I had time to reflect because I couldn't think about what colors and materials I really like," said Chungha. "As I thought maybe it's okay to really show my voice, I thought I should have more courage and participate in writing the lyrics. Like that, 8 songs were completed."

The title song "Sparkling," with Chungha's vocals on top of a fast beat of 160 BPM, is a summer song with a retro drum line and a harsh sound of an electric guitar.

"Sparkling is a song that literally twinkles," Chungha explained the title song. "It's very exciting."

As an album that contains many inner stories of Chungha, the track song "Good Night My Princess" reflects on her childhood.

"It's a song that contains a lot of my childhood," Chungha said about this song. "When my parents went to work in the morning, (I) was awake, but I knew that if I said hello, their footsteps would be heavy, so I used to say it softly under the blanket and that's expressed in this song," she explained.

The track song "Crazy Like You," a collaboration song between Chungha and singer BIBI is about having nothing more to lose.

"It's a very honest, bold and outspoken song," Chungha said. "It boldly shows the bad side of me."

"As much as it is very meaningful for me, this album was more about my satisfaction than just the results and achievements," said Chungha. "Because I'm really satisfied about this album, I wish I could convey that type of feeling to many people."
