'Aloners' receives awards at overseas film festivals

SEOUL, Dec. 7 (Yonhap) -- Film “Aloners” have received awards from several overseas film festivals.

Actress Gong Seung-yeon received the Best Actress Award at the 39th Torino Film Festival which recently finished and director Hong Seung-eun was given The Bronze Pyramid Award For Best First or Second Feature of a Director at the 43rd Cairo International Film Festival, according to the distributor The Coup Corporation Tuesday.


Director Hong’s debut production “Aloners” depict the modern people’s struggle against loneliness through the story of call center employee Jin-ah (Gong) who does not want to build a relationship with anyone else.

The film gained interest winning Best Actress Prize and CGV Arthouse Award at the Jeonju International Film Festival in May and Gong received the Best New Actress Award at the Blue Dragon Film Awards in November.
